NORTH AUCKLAND FARMERS ENTER PROTEST. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Last Night. The schedule of proposed prices for cartage and motor transport within Whangarei County, prepared by the Whangarei Commercial Vehicular Owners’ Association, was discussed in committee to-day by the sub-provincial branch of tho Farmers’ Union, the county council and the chairman of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company, who later met the carriers in conference. A resolution was carried that farmers’ organisations are opposed tu tho fixation of road transport charges at the expenso of the farmer as the ultimate payer, until such time as the principle of compensated prices for the exporting farmer, was given effect to in a way that provides him with the means to pay these costs. It is stated that the now schedule represented an increase of 65 per cent, and was out of all reason.
