Road Signs Too Small
ADDITIONAL WARNING INDICATIONS ADVISED. In the opinion of some members of the executive of the Automobile Association (Manawatu), the new universal road signs are far too small and lively to be overlooked by motorists, especially in such circumstances as when they are passing other cars. Other members, on the other hand, said motorists should realise almost automatically when they were in the restricted ureas. There was a class of driver who would not see a notice if it was plastered on tho bonnet of his car. The chairman (Mr N. H. Mackie) suggested that a warning of the approach to a 30 m.p.h. area could be painted across the bitumen and inembers approved of the idea as a good The North Island Motor Union is to be asked to give thought to the matter.
