Rowing Regatta at Clive
TROPHIES RETAINED. (•Special to "Times"). HASTINGS, Last Night. The disposition of the shields'lor tho Last Coast Rowing Association's regatta, held in tho Ngaruroro river, at •Hive ou Saturday, remained tho sumc at the end of the day, the L.V.A. >\icid md the Harris-Hill Shield remaining ~ith the Napier Rowing Club, and the olloy and Kirk Shield and the Nield Shield remaining with the holders, Poverty Bay. The attendance at the function, al-
though good, was affected by threatening weather and intermittent rain. The river was calm, but a stiff breeze made conditions difficult. In tho sculling races of tho morning, Poverty Bay swept the lists iu the Colley and Kirk bhield, gaining all tho points, while the Nield Bhield scries saw a duel between that club and Wairoa, Poverty Bay finally heading their opponents by the narrow margin of ono point. Napier gained six points of a possible 11* in tho lours raco for tho L.V.A. Bhield, Poverty Boy gaining three,points and Gisborne one. la tho pair-oar raced Tor* the Harris Hill •Shield, Napier guined six points, the remaining three going to Poverty Buy. An unfortunate incident occurred in tho starting of senior pairs, when the Napier team, which had an excellent chance of winning tho event, were late at the start, and the race was comuiencnd without them.
