Merry Dance at Feilding
MARKS 21st BIRTHDAY. A very merry time was spent on Saturday evening at the homo of Miss Joan Benson when a danco, organised by friends, was held there to mark her 21st birthday. A large room had been cleared, decked with gold and tangerine Ireland poppies, nasturtions and streamers in the two tones and dancing provided the best possible amusement. Miss Benson wore a charming frock of white floral georgette with inset train of sunray pleating and her grandmother, Mrs C. Bowden, who was among those present was attired in navy nnd white spotted maroeain relieved with white georgette.
A delicious supper was taken along by tho visitors and during tho supper interval Mr A. Laureuson announced the engagement of his son Leslie to Miss Joan'Benson. Much excitement resulted and tho toast of this popular young couplu was Immediately drunlc with musical honours following which Mr Leslio Laureuson suitably replied. Mr Stephen Fisher then as an old family friend proposed the toast of Mrs Bowden arid.her grand-daughter und “They are Jolly Good Fellows" having been sung with spirit, Miss Benson returned thanks. There were various novelty dances and by way of adding to the fun paper hats and masks were distributed after supper. Many delightful birthday presents were given Miss Benson and among them was the proverbial gold key which she received at tho hands of Mr Stephen Fisher. A very joyous occasion was brought fo an end in the popular way by tho singing of “Auld Lang Syne.''
