“Gift” Afternoon for Miss Ailsa Turner

Her wedding day approaching, Miss Ailsa Turner is following a busy round of parties given in her honour. Yesterday, Mrs J. It. Wood and Miss Violet Wood were hostesses at a “gift" afternoon lit their residence, Princess street, which was attended by many of Miss Turner's friends.

Mrs Wood received her guests wearing" a graceful frock of black silk velvet with scatlet spray, Miss Wood's frock being of floral chiffon in shades of blue,' while Miss Turner had chosen a smart rodingote suit in dull blue and navy with navy hat. .Lovely flowers were artistically arranged, handsome dtfhlias and sweet peas predominating in the hall and drawing-room, the colours being further enhanced by the warm sunshino thac tilled the room.

Pleasure was given to the company by Miss Lexio McDonald, who contributed voeol solos, and Miss Violet Wood, who played 'cello solos, Mrs H. U. Morgan officiating as accompanist.

After dainty afternoon tea had been enjoyed Miss Turner was usked to open the many parcels her friends had brought and feelingly expressed her thanks for the beautiful gifts. Among those present were Mesdames W. Turner, W. Jacob, Jones, Morgan, Charlesworth, Mrs and Miss P. Carter, Mrs E. C. Barnett, Miss Joan Barnett, Mesdames A. Grigor, Barnett, junr., W. T. Penny, McLeod, Gray, Jervis P. R. Thomley, Leo Andrews, Eglinton, Bennison, Mrs and Miss McDonald, Misses Z. Wood and B. Collins.
