Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The New Zealand national surf chain pionships opened at Lyall Bay on Hat urday in a strong, cold southerly and concluded to-day. Tho Minister of Edu cation officially opened the programme. Tho weather to-duy was also cold with rain but little wind. Results were as follows: New Zealand Four-Man Alarm Championship for the Roslyn Cup (holders Lyall Bay. First heat: Ohawe A 1, Island Bay ?. Second heat: Sumner 3, Lyall Bay A 2, Eastern United 3. Third heat: Taylor’s Mistake A 3, New Plymouth Old Boys A 2, Maranui A 3, Patea 4. Fourth heat: St. Clair A 1, North Beach A 2, Taylor’s Mistake B disqualified for not touching the buoy. Fifth heat: Lyall Bay B 3, Ohawe B 2, Fitzroy B 3. Sixth heat: Maranui B 3, Oreti 2. Seventh heat: Fitzroy A 1, St. Clair B 2. Semi-finals. First heat: Maranui B 3, St. Clair A 2, Ohawe A 3. Lyall Bay Cmin. 22sec. 3, Maranui 7min. 4scq. 2. New Zealand Championship Rescue and Resuscitation (Nelson Shield). First heat: Castlocliff 1. Lyall Bay B Maranui B and Taylor’s Mistake were all disqualified. Second heat: New Plymouth Old Boys and Lyall Bay, who reached home first with fastest time, wero disqualified for the patient going to the wrong buoy. Eastern United and Patea were also disqualified. Third heat: Maranui A 3, St. Clair 2, Opunake 3. Fourth heat: Australia 1, Fitzroy 2, Ohawo 3. Australia wore not eligiblo so Fitzroy entered tho finals. Final. Maranui A 1, Taylor’s Mistake 2, New Plymouth Old Boys 3. Junior Individual Surf Race Championship. S. W. Jarvis (St. Clair) smin. 38sec. 1, H. Goldfinch (Taylor’s Mistake) smin. 45 3-ssec. 2, H. Fowns (Maranui) smin. 55 2-ssec. 3. Senior Individual Surf Race Championship. R. l’clham (Lyall liny, Wellington) smin. 20sce. 1, P. Mathieson (St. Clair, Otago) smin. 35sec. 2, A. Dalton (North Beach) smin. 45sec. 3. W. Scott (Australia) won the event in 4min. 39sec., followed at clos*e intervals by three other Australians, J. Millar, J. King and A. Hart. The first New Zealander to leave the surf and race up the beach to the tape was Pelham who finished in fifth position. Then came B. Hodgson (Australia). Matheson and Dalton (Australia) wero ineligible to hold the title which goes to Pelham as the first New Zealander home. New Zealand March Past Championship. Opunake 1, Taylor’s Mistake 2, Ohawo 3. Intercolonial Surf Relay. Australia 3, New Zealand 2. Senior Surf Relay Championship. Australia 1, Maranui 2, Lyall Buy 3. Tho Australian team was ineligible so Maranui takes the title from last year’s holders, Lyall Bay. Junior Surf Teams Relay Championship. St. Clair 1, Lyall Bay 22, Island Bay
