Summer Golf at Hokowhitu
KNIGHTS LEADS THE FIELD IN MEDAL HANDICAP. The ‘‘summer” competition for the Glendinning Cup was continued at Hokowhitu during the week-end, when the second match of the series, a medal handicap, was decided. The course was in very fine order though tho fairways and greens had been slowed up slightly by heavy rain the previous day. There was a very big attendance of players. The leading score was that of W. J. Knights, whose card of 69 was four strokes better than those of A. Snell and L. G. Call is, who were next in order. Following were tho best scores:—
recorded during the week-end, and K. S. Glendinning, holder of the Manawatu open title, was round in approximately 67 off the stick, following a 70 the previous afternoon. John Hornabrook, the New Zealand amateur champion, has played very little golf since the national tournament, but he shot, a 71 during the weekend, indicating he should not take long to regain touch.
