From Our Own rorresoondeut. On Saturday a tennis team representing Aokautere visited Pohangina and played a match against the local enthusiasts. The afternoon was an enjoyable one and the standard of play being very even, some exciting finishes were witnessed. The final score of 1) sets—73 games, to 7 sets—72 games, was in Poliangina’s favour. Details of the game were as follow, Pohangina players being mentioned first:— Men’s singles: W. Smart beat J. Woodley 6—5; F. Koberts beat W. Anderson jr., 6—5; H. Moar beat F. Judd 6—2; I. Lepper beat W. Anderson snr., 6—4. Ladies’ Singles: Miss M. Smart lost to Miss E. Anderson 4 —6, Miss J. Sinclair lost to Miss M. Anderson 2—6, Miss J. Howell lost to Miss J. Anderson 2—6, Miss N. Grover beat Mrs Craven. Men’s doubles: Smart and Moar beat Woodley and Anderson jr., 6—5, Roberts and Lepper lost to Judd and Anderson sr., 5 .Ladies’ doubles: Misses Smart and Sinclair - beat Misses E. and M. Anderson 6 5, Misses Howell and Grover lost to Miss J. Anderson and Mrs Craven 2—6. Mixed doubles: Smart and Miss Smart beat Woodley and -Miss E. Anderson 6—5, Roberts and Miss Sinclair lost to Anderson jr., and Miss M. Anderson 5—6, Moar and Miss Grover lost to Judd and Miss J.
