Mainly Fair Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An anti-cyclone extends across the Tasman Sea on to Northern New Zealand but a depression of moderate intensity is crossing the South Island today. Winds: Westerly to south-westerly prevailing moderate generally but freshening from Cook Strait southwards. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere slight to moderate but rising somewhat south of Castlepoint. Eastern Tasman: Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds with moderate to rather rough seas. Weather: For the most part fair to cloudy but some showers probable in districts with a westerly aspect, also at scattered places on the east coast of the South Island.
