Baldwin Will Carry On
OWING TO TROUBLED FOREIGN SITUATION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received .Sunday, 8.3 U p.m. LONDON, Jan. 17. Tho Observer believes that in view of the magnitude of the tasks facing Parliament in the Coronation session and the troubled foreign situation, Mr. Baldwin will not implement his desire to retire after the Coronation. The Premier’s health has now improved and his mind is relievod owing to the removal of the Constitutional uncertaintie.-*. Moreover, the Whitsuntide recess is often regarded as a convenient period for Cabinet reconstruction. Mr. Baldwin is likely to continuo until the autumn when the recess will allow a successor to conveniently take , Other newspapers believe Mr. Neville Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer, is planning to borrow £200.000,000 to pay for rearmament. The expenditure on defence will probably be increased by £50,000,000, the Navy requiring £90,000,000 and the Army and Air Force each £60,000,00fr.
