YOU AND THE CAR.
Bumper-bars may bo the source of noises which obviously come from some external part of the car. Bolts and nuts in the bumpers tend to loosen up in service, causing vibration and rattles'! which may be transmitted to other' parts of the car, making them difficult to locate. The mere fact that your car engine is quiet, even at high speeds, is no justification for Tacing it when not under load. Tremendous forces are developed quickly in the modern engine, and then tend to work destructively on the power plant itself when they have no more useful work to do. When the petrol tank is beginning to run low, do you hurry to a bowser or do you take your time? Many motorists have failed to reach their base of supplies simply by being in too great a hurry. It required more petrol to travel at 40 or 50 m.p.h. than at 25 m.p.h. To hurry, then, is to risk using up what little fuel is left in the tank before 1 reaching the source of a new supply.
