A Friend of Fighting Men

HE ONCE RAISED FUND OF £2,750,000 Sir Arthur Yapp, the man who planted the Red TriaDgle in tho hearts of millions of men on the fighting fronts, died suddenly at his Woking (England) home recently. For years he guided and controlled the Y.M.C.A. movement, and it was due to his foresight that the society’s huts became oases of civilisation in the morass of war. To carry on this work Sir Arthur raised £2,750,000, and the State recognised his great services by knighting him. Sir Arthur’s belief in youth never faltered. “I know its failings, but I am also conscious of its irresistible charm,” ho wrote of it in his farewell message. “It is not in any way worse than its fathers were at its age, and in some respects it has improved.” The membership of the Y.M.C.A. embraces millions of young men in all parts of tho world.
