Mr and Mrs R. Davis, Queen street, have returned to Palmerston North after a motor tour in the north.

Misses Beryl and Noeline Oakley, of Kaiuforth street, left for Auckland on holiday yesterday.

Mrs lan Robinson, Sydney, is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs E. F. Pasley, Linton street.

Mrs W. P. Bickers, of Makino, has returned home after visiting New Plymouth for the Papeesh—Russell wedding on Wednesday.

Mrs L. Knyvett, Stanway, Mrs Nelson Ball, her little daughter Lola and Mrs Maurice Waldin, of Feilding, are spending a holiday of three weeks at Tauranga.

Mrs Vivien Sugdeu, of Nelson, and her two children after being the guests of Mrs A. Sugden, Grey street, Feilding, are leaving by the Wanganiella on Tuesday for a threo months’ visit to Sydney.

Mrs L. R. Myliill, accompanied by her small son Andrew, has returned to her home at Te Awamutu, after spending the holidays at Halcombe as the guest of her mother, Mrs Managh, Tokorangi road.

Mrs R. D. Gambrill, Heretaunga street, who has been competing in the North Island croquet championship at Lower Hutt, with signal success, annexing tho women’s championship and being runner-up to E. Managh (South Auckland) in the handicap singles, left for Christchurch on Saturday night to compete in the Dominion tournament.

Mrs E. G. Anstis, who has been taking part in the North Island Croquet Championships at Lower Hutt, being runner-up to Mrs Gambrill in the women’s championship, returned to Palmerston North on Saturday. In view of a contemplated visit to England at an early date, Mrs Anstis is not competing in the Dominion tournament at Christchurch.

The death occurred at Masterton on Saturday of Mrs H. F. O’Leary, mother of Mr H. F. O’Leary, K.C., of Wellington. Other members of the family are: Father Mark O’Leary, of Nelson; Mr J. O’Leary, of Timaru; Mrs S. Ascot, of Wanganui; Mrs J. Kenna, of Bunnythorpe; Mrs P. Barry, of Foxton; Mrs E. Peters, of Master-

ton, and Mrs J. Brophv, of Palmerston North. Mrs O’Leary’s husband died about 24 years ago.
