ENTRIES CLOSE JANUARY 15. Tho next big attraction for the Rangitikei and surrounding districts is the Martou A. and P. Show which will be held on tho Martou racecourse on Wednesday, January 27, to be followed by the Marton ram fair on the same locality on Thursday? January 25?. A most comprehensive schedule has been issued by the association and includes sections for thoroughbreds, light harness horses, ponies and draughts whilst in the ring competitions arc classes for best boy and girl riders, pony jumping, hunters’ competition for maidens, Pryce Cup, ladies’ handy hunters, and open jumping. Cattle are catered for in Jerseys, Friesians, llcrefords, unregistered cattle and boys’ and girls’ call clubs. Sheep as usual take a prominent position and Romney Marsh and Southdowns (purebred flock rams and natural conditions), farmers’ classes, fat sheep and lambs, pet lambs and gift clascs for lambs are generously catered for. Tamworths, Berkshires and baconers are included in the pig section, whilst classes for sheep dogs appear in the schedule. In the main grandstand there will be displays of sewing wool, art needlework, home industries, vegetables and school exhibitions. Entries for the

schools section have closed with a good response and general entry day for stock, homo industries, sewing wool and art needlework, is Friday, January 15. Entries for vegetables close at 10 a.m. on the morning of the show. Schedules can be obtained on application on tho show secretary, P.O. box 3, Marton. In the evening there will be a spectacular programme including fireworks, Highland dances (amateurs), Ratana Band and Orchestra, a danco in the members’ room and side-shows galore comprising all the latest novel entertainments on tour in the Dominion. Entries for the ram fair close on Thursday, January 21, with the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Company, Marton.
