London Doctor's Visit to Cannes
Indignant Refutation of Damaging Rumours Mrs Simpson is Photographed United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Thursday, 1.30 am. LONDON, Dec. 9. The Daily Mail’s Cannes correspondent says Dr. Kirkwood’s intended departure this morning from Monte Carlo confirms Lord Brownlow’s statement that his visit has no relation to the health of Mrs. Simpson. The Daily Mail’s extra late edition quotes Lord Brownlow as indignantly refuting damaging rumours wherefor there is not a grain of truth. “I know nothing about Dr. Kirkwood "being a gynaecologist but if he is he certainly is not here in relation to Mrs. Simpson.” The Daily Mail quotes the Paris Soil* as saying that Mr Goddard’s mission is to obtain from Mrs. Simpson a signed act of renunciation. An earlier message from Cannes stated that three photographers—a Briton, an American, and a Frenchman—were admitted to the villa and permitted to snap Mrs. Simpson posed under the portico. An aeroplane with unknown passengers landed at Marseilles and it was reported that the passengers were remaining until to-morrow, but Cannes could be easily reached. by road. The passengers are believed to include a London solicitor and a doctor. It was denied that they were Whitehall officials. Lord Brownlow announced at Cannes that Mrs. Simpson will remain there till well after Christmas.. She has no intention of going either to London or to America. Last night she outwitted the incessant vigilance of Pressmen and photographers by motoring to Nice, enjoying a walk on the promenade. .Thice English and five French detectives are constantly at the villa.
