Honours for Feilding Constable
ECHO OF KESCUE AT TANGIMOANA. ' Yesterday tiie Town Clerk of Feild> ing (Mr. C. H. Tate) advised' that the Mayor (Mr. T. Collins) had received from tiie Royal Humane Society a framed certificate for presentation to Constable Gillard, of Feilding, in recognition of his bravery in rescuing two young girls at Tangimoana oil January 13 last. It will be recalled that the two girls, Joyce Jessop and Dorothy Claasen, ago 14 and 12 years respectively, got into difficulties in tho Rangitilcei river at Tangimoana when Constable Gillard, fully clothed, entered the deep water and was successful in rescuing both.
Arrangements are now being made to publicly present the certificate to Constablo Gillard at tho Borough Council Chambers on Thursday evening ..next prior to the usual meeting of the council.
