SUCCESSFUL EVENING MEETING. The usual weekly meeting conducted by the Manawatu Amateur Cycling Club and the Kia Toa Amateur Athletic Club was held last evening before a fair crowd of spectators. For so early in the season, both cycling and running events were keenly contested, and the events were all got off without delay The following are results of events:— One lap cycle.—First heat: G. Esau (30yds.) 1, N. Dixon (50yds.) 2, 1. Little (00yds.) 3. Time, 42sec. Second heat: P. Hulbert (50yds.) I, P. Evans (OOj'ds.) 2, E. Lawrence (scr.) 3. Time, 42 l-ssec. Pinal: G. Esau 1, P. Evans 2, E. Lawrence 3. Time, 44scc. Twelve starters.
100 yards handicap: Comber (10yds.) 1, Cocker (syds.) 2, Rolls (12yds.) 3. Time, 10 l-ssec. Seven starters. Two mile cycle: P. Manning (340yds.) 1, H. Essex (190yds.) 2, A. Rasmussen (190yds.) 3. Time, 4min. 40sec. Twelve starters.
Half-mile fiat: Scott (GOyds.) 1, Hearsey (65yds.) .2, Galloway (35yds.) 3. Time, 2min. 5 l-ssec. Seven starters. 220 yards handicap: Robinson (20yds.) 1, Comber (20yds.) 2, White (14yds.) 3. Time, 22sec. Eight starters.
I. Little won the Manning Badge by default from O. Campbell. P. Hulbert has challenged Little to race for the badge at next Monday’s meeting, the distance to be over two laps. The 1J miles and three mile cycle events will also bo contested.
