‘Stowaway King’ Sentenced
Described by a detective as " King, of Stowaways,” Kolino Rooks (23) was sentenced to four months’ hard labour at Salford, England. Ho was charged with landing in. the United Kingdom contrary to the Aliens Order and with making a false statement to a police officer. Detective-Sergeant Cleminson said that Rooks had given three different versions of how he got into the country. 11 He is purely an obstructionist and seems bent on giving the police and immigration officials the utmost difficulty,” said the officer. "He is undoubtedly the king of stowaway and we can only hope that sometime he will disclose the true information of his identity. "It seems that he will not tell the truth because ho is in fear of something abroad.” The officer said that Rooks spoke fluent English, German, French and Portugese. It was stated that Rooks had previously received sentences of imprisonment at Cardiff for landing without permission and at Hull for failing to comply with regulations.
