Te Kawas Tennis

The first round of the Te Kawau Tennis Association’s matches commenced on Saturday when Carnarvon B played Rongotea B on the Rongotea courts. Rain setting in in the late afternoon prevented tho completion of the tournament. The following games were played, Rongotea players mentioned first:—

Ladies’ singles: Miss B. Aird beat Miss Burne, 6—o; Miss J. George beat Miss Duffy, 6—4. Men’s singles: R. Aird lost to P. Hansen/ 5 —6; A. Eades lost to G. Frecklington, 3 —6; F. Wright beat S. Keith, 6—4.

Ladies’ doubles: Miss B. Aird and Mrs. R. Scott beat Miss Burns and Mrs. Dixon, 6—3; Misses ,J. George and M. Fraser beat Misses Duffy and Fieldhouse, 6—2; Misses E. Knox and W. Amies lost to Mrs. J. Claasen and Miss G. Arnott, 5—6. Men’s doubles: R. Aird and A. Eades beat P. Hansen and G. Frecklington, 6—5; H. Churchill and K. Amies beat D. Hancox and A. Stephens, 6—4.

Combined doubles: Miss B. Aird and R. Aird beat Miss Burne and P. Hensen, 6—3; Mrs. R. Scott and A. Eades lost to Mrs. Dix and G. Frecklington, 2—o; Miss J. George and H. Churchill beat Miss P. Duffy and A. Stephens, 6—3; Miss M. Fraser and K. Amies beat Miss Fieldhouso and D. Hancox, 6—o,
