London Wool Sales
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., (Inc. in England) report having received the following cable from their London office, under date December 2, 1936: — “London wool sales: The sixth series closed to-day with keen general competition. Yorkshire were chief buyers. Compared with fifth series prices were higher 2d per lb. for greasy inferior Merino; 3d per lb for scoured Merino, medium greasy Merino and Merino and Xbred lambs; 3Ad per lb for super greasy Merino and fine greasy Xbred; 3Jd to 4d per 11). for scoured Xbred, Xbred slipe, medium greasy Xbred and coarse greasy Xbred.” Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: Wool sales closed active with brisk competition, Home trade and Continent operating freely, Russian buyers included. As compared with tho closing rates of last series:—Greasy Merino, 3d to 4d higher; scoured Merino, old to 4}d higher; greasy halfbreds, 3d to 4d higher; scoured half bred, 4d to 41 d higher; greasy line crossbred, 3d to 31d higher; greasy medium crossbred, 3l'd to 31d higher; greasy coarse crossbred, 3}d to 3-Jd higher; scoured crossbred, 3ld to 4sd higher, slipcs, lambs, 31d to 41d higher; other descriptions slipes, 3id to -lid higher; greasy crossbred Igmbs, 3d to 31 d higher. The following is the range of prices: Merino, G-S, 19d to 22d; L-M, lod to lSd; half bred SG/58, G-S, 18d to 21d; L-M, 13 jd to 17d; half bred 50/56, G-S, 15d to lfijd; L-M, 121 dto 14)d; line crossbred 48/50, G-S, lojd to 144 d; L-M, 12}d to 131 d; 46/48, G-S, 131 d to 14d; L-M, 12-id to 13:}d; crossbred 44/46, G-S, 13id to 133 d; L-M, 12d to 13d; 40/44, G-S, 13d to 131 d; L-M, lljd to 12|d; coarse crossbred 3C/40, G-S, 13d to 13.1 d; L-M, lljd to 12»d. Quotations super wools nominal; practically none offered.
