Accidental Death

MAN KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAM. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 4. At the inquest to-day on Clement Watson, aged 84, who died as a result of being knocked down by a tram on Oriental Parade on the evening of November 20th, the Coroner found that death was accidental, no blame being attributable to the motorman.

Evidence was given which showed that deceased approached and crossed the tram tracks and apparently did not see the car till it was almost on him,, when he apparently tried to cross quickly in front of it. The motorman’s evidence was that he had the man in sight for some time, He thought tho man was going to let the car go by, but he tried to get across in front. Tho car was under emergency' brakes and travelled only six feet after ho fell.
