j From Oui o».. Cmmsooudeui. Women’s Institute. The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was in the hands of the junior members. Miss B. Harrington presided. An amusing piayette was given by Aliases J. Goluer, Ada Lawrence, V. Webo and T. Spurkes. This was entitled “The Jumble Sale.” Another amusing item was a series of acted songs, those taking part being: Misses Q. Harrington (“BiiLt Fink Rose”), E. Gardiner (“Little Gipsy Tearoom”), F. Webb ("Daisy Beil”),,B. Harrington (“Bluebells of Scotland”), V. Webb (“Won't You Buy My Pretty Flowers”), J. Golder (“There's a Long Long Trail”), A. M. Lawrence (“After the Ball”), T. Sparkes (“Wearin' of the Green”), Ada Lawrence ("A Beautiful Lady in Blue”). Junior members then sang “Beautiful Lady in Blue.” Winners of novelty competitions were Mrs W. O. Twentyman, Mrs W. Watkins and Mrs Lawrence. The dressed doll competition resulted: Miss E. Gardiner 1, Mrs L. Udy 2, Mrs Lawrence 3; best flower competition, Mrs Goodin 3, Mrs Golder 2, Mrs Goodin 3. Visitors were present from Mangatainoka and Pahiatua Institutes. The dolls from tho doll competition are to be sent to the Masterton Orphanage. Afternoon tea was served by the juniors. A pleasing display of articles was on sale from tho disabled, soldiers at Wellington. Brisk business was done by that stall and also the bring and buy stall. The box of chocolates was won by Mr A. Lawrence, junr. Personal. Miss R. Eddie and Miss A. Golder spout the recent week-end in Masterton. Miss Hilda Atkins is the guest of her aunt, Mrs P. Atkins. Mrs It. J. Cotter has returned home after recuperating in Levin. Miss K. Wenham spent tho recent week-end in Eketahuna as the guest of Airs W. Anderson. Air and Airs M. O’Brien, of Levin, spent the recent week-end as tho guest of Mr and Airs Ronald Udy. Atiss Cannell spent the recent week-end in Wellington. Friends of Air P. Brown will regret to hear that he is very ill and is an inmate of the Pahiatua hospital. Mr W. O. Twentyman spent the recent week-end in Wellington. Tennis.

In the ladder competition, Aliss N. Harrington defeated Aliss J. Golder, 6—3; Airs R. Udy defeated Airs W. Hirst. 6—5; Aliss Ada Lawrence defeated Aliss Anne Lawrence, 6—5. Challenges to be played are: Miss Ada Lawrence v. Airs W. Hirst; Aliss N. Harrington v. Airs Watkins; C. Lawrence v. Rex Udy; A. Hirst v. P. Twentyman.
