Palmerston North Branch Of the Plunket Society

MONTHLY MEETING HELD. Miss M. McLagan presided at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Plunket Society held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Also present were Mesdames H. B. Free, 11. B. Bennett, L. A. Fergusson, A. E, Hansford, J, G. Crooks, W. G. Black, L. H. Collinson, M. Aitchison (secretary) and K. Garland. Apologies were received from Mesdames A. Grigor, A. Coombs, R. T. lidswell, G. C. Petersen, J. Hope Johnson and T. F. Fairbrother. I The president extended a welcome to Mrs. K. Garland, who was taking her 1 place again after six months’ leave of absence. A letter was received from Mrs. W. M. Webster applying for leave of absence, as owing to indifferent health, 'she was obliged to take a trip to her ihome in England. Mr. J. R. Ilardie (town clerk) wrote regarding the tubercular free milk supply, advising that the matter had been referred to the Health Department for advice thereon. The council’s decision in the matter would be forwarded at a later date. Miss A. M. Kearns wwote on behalf of the nursing advisor to the council notifying the branch that arrangements were being made with Miss Coppock to do the relieving duty during tho annual leave of each nurse.

The financial statement was presented and the accounts passed for payment. Nurse’s Report. The Plunket Nurse, Miss I. M. Lockwood, reported that during the month 133 visits had been paid to homes and visits to office totalled 1459 (adults 734, babies 675, older children 50). Forty new cases were added to the books. Parcels of clothing from Mesdames Brown, E. Graham and Wesney were gratefully acknowledged. Four visits had been paid to Foxton where 10 visits were paid to homes and visits to office totalled 144 (adults 70, babies 58, older children 16). There were three new cases. Sales for the month of Karilac, Karil, Kariol, etc., amounted to £25 Bs. Membership fees were received from Mesdames W. A. Carey, E. A. O’Brien, A. W. Bearsley, annual subscriptions from Mrs. J. T. Hay and donations from Mesdames J. D. Lewis (ss), J. Tait (£1), C. H. Wildbore (7s 6d), J. H. Burrell (ss), which together with £1 5s 8d accrued from the collection box brought the total receipts to £29 11s 2d.
