“The Princess Comes Across” Is Heralded Feature
CAROLE LOMBARD AND FRED MacMTJRRAY HEAD CAST (Regent: Screening To-day.) A story of mystery and romance on the Atlantic is unfolded by Paramount’s “The Princess Comes Across,” with Carole Lombard and Fred Mac Murray in the stellar roles. The picture reunites for the first time the screen sweethearts who became national favourites in their first feature together, “Hands Across the Table.” Miss Lombard appears as a charming American girl posing as a Swedish princess, en route to New York to land a film contract. Aboard the luxury liner, “Mammoth,” setting for the entire plot, she meets and falls in love with Mac Murray, concertina-playing maestro of a “swing” band. Beforo the “Mammoth” has docked at New r York, the romance of the supposed princess and the music “king" has wound through a plot involving a pair of murders, blackmail, sleuthing of five international detectives and a nick-of-thne solution by Mac Murray. An unusually varied supporting east adds much to both comedy and mystery of the oqering. Heading the list are the inimitable Alison. Skipworth, “lady-in-waiting” to the Princess; William Frawley, manager for MacMMurry'say's band; Douglas Dumbrille, Porter Hall, and George Barbier.
Having graduated from the University College in London, where the course he took would have resulted in the degree of M.D., if he pursued it, H. B. Warner feels right at home in the rolo of doctor in ‘‘Along Game Love,” which has just commenced production at the Paramount Studios. . <3> <S> •$> «• Alexander Hall, Paramount director, appreciates very much the gift of a Great Dane, ‘‘Lady,” made by Rian James, noted author and screen writer, but is worried because the animal eats five pounds of meat a day which costs more than the profits from his seventyfive acre ranch.
