NO-FOUL RULE IN BOXING
“HOW U BLOTS THE-GAME”
JIMMY WILD “HITS OUT” When Jimmy Wild was the midget wonder of the Queenberry ring, he hit straight and with the sting of a human wasp. Now, as critic of the sport in wnfch he was unique, he has not forgotten to hit hard and to the point. In his News of the World” notes on September 6, Jimmy said:— “Dave Crowley’s cruel defeat at the hands of Mike Belloise shows the futility of British boxers challenging for world titles in America. "As long as the iniquitous ‘no-foul’ rule remains in existence so long will British fighters fail to earn titles that their talent may merit. "Crowley, on Thursday evening, battled for seven rounds magnificently, and had garnered a nice points lead. "Odds of 9 to 4 on the Englishman were being offered and snapped up in the next round, when Belloise, knowing that he could not be disqualified unleashed a vicious right hook that was, to say the least, questionable. y “Not content with the assistance he received from the effects of that punch, Belloise, finding his opponent effecting a gallant and successful recovery, in the next session swung over an even more obvious foul. "At once Crowley sank to the boards to be counted out. He had lost the world’s featherweight championship, which, according to all the known canons of the ring, he had clearly won.”
