Disaster in Rejoicing
Train Ploughs Into Cheering Crowd THIRTEEN KILLED NEAR CAIRO United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 9.20 p.m. CAIRO, Oct. 18. Disaster attended the Egyptian rejoicings over the Anglo-xlgyptdan treaty culminating in a triumphal welcome to Nahas Pasha. En route to Cairo from Alexandria the Premier’s decorated train stopped at Toukh, 30 miles north of Cairo, and was immediately surrounded by entnusiastically cheering throngs into which the express lrom Cairo ploughed at full speed before the driver was able to apply the brakes. Thirteen persons were killed and five injured. Many in the crowd attempted to lynch the driver whom the police protected. The tragedy did not affect the Premier's reception in Cairo, where there was unprecedented enthusiasm.
