Air. John Hornabrook, the amateur title holder, left for the New Zealand golf championship meeting yesterday, motoring through to New Plymouth with Air. D. C. Collins, of Fentherstou. Air. Ken Glcndinning leaves for New Plymouth to-day. Air. J. R. Galloway, who did so well at the tournament last year, motored through to Taranaki during the week-end.

Alessrs. P. T. Robinson, F. C. Allerby, J. P. Qeenan, and tho Hon. Alark Briggs, AI.L.C., have been selected to present the petition concerning Cr. J. Hodgens, ALP., to the City Council this evening. This was decided at a meeting of the petition committee on Saturday afternoon. There were then 40(5r> signatures remaining on the petition, several hundreds having been deleted in the course of checking up. Three further books remained to be counted.
