Fans Will be in Favour For the Coronation

It is, indeed, a little curious that, although tho Victorian age is popularly derided, we arc constantly seeking inspiration from it for present-day lashions. Fans, for instance, are coming into favour again. The designers say that they will bo well in ♦keeping with the formal atmosphere of tho Coronation season, but since the art of using a fan gracefully is now almost a forgotten one, we are to start carrying them in the winter to grow accustomed to them once more, says a London correspondent. Revillo’s, who mako most of Queen Mary’s gowns, have already been given many orders to fit ostrich feathers into old fan holders. 801110 of those are family heirlooms, and are-really exquisite, made of malachite or some such semi-precious stone, and studded with diamonds or other jewels. The older woman seems to preier uncurled ostrich fcathc fans in the deep, rich colours that are to be worn this autumn, wine-red, for instance, or dull pink or sapphire blue. Debutantes, however, are choosing curled feathers in pastel, tints, inoutned on mother-of-pearl sticks. Another idea for tho young girl is to match her fan with her frock, and sequin fans are being made to accompany the picturesque sequin embroidered dresses that are at present so fashionable.
