Wet and Windy
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A succession of rather intense depressions of the westerly typo is crossing the South Tasman Sea and southern New Zealand, while tho pressure continues high to tho north. Winds: Westerly to north-westerly still prevailing, moderate to strong generally with frequent squalls of gale force in many places south of New Plymouth and Napier. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux straits; elsewhere moderate but rough offshore south of Castlepoint.
Eastern Tasman Sea: North-west to west winds moderate but increasing in the northern portion with rising seas; elsewhere strong to gale force with rough seas. Weather: Cloudy to overcast in the western districts from Taranaki southwards and the far south with rain at times and some heavy falls in Westland; elsewhero fair at first but rain extending shortly to most districts with a westerly aspect; some scattered falls likely also in eastern areas. Temperatures: Mainly moderate but warm at times east of the main ranges.
