Success Attends Annual Spring Fair
“The majority of the stock wero in splendid condition, reflecting great credit upon the breeders. Although prices w r cre not quite as good as in the Waikato, it was a very satisfactorysale, ” commented a competent observer who had followed tho bidding yesterday at the annual spring national bull and heifer sale at trie Showgrounds, conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Ltd. Vendors from Manawatu, Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa and Nelson wero represented in the catalogue. There was a large attendance of buyers, but most of the purchasers were mado within tho district. Although bidding was inclined to drug at times, interest was maintained until tho end of the sale, and passings wero infrequent. Most of the offerings were Jerseys. Prior to the sale a show was held, the judges being Messrs C. G. C. Dermer (Cheltenham) and J. Leach (Woodville), before whom some bign quality bulls were paraded. There was no show class for heifers. Placings were:—
