INTREPID AIRWOMAN’S AMAZING PROGRESS jolted Press Association— By Electric Telegraph.—C ipy right. Received Thursday, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 8. Miss Jean Batten, the New Zealand aviatrix, who is endeavouring' to create a new record flight from England to her homeland, arrived at Karachi last night at 7.10 local time, and left again for Allahabad at 3.50 this morning. Miss Batten says that she encountered severe sand storms over Jask, and was compelled to fly at a height of 10,000 feet.
ON THE WAY TO BURMA DAY AHEAD OF BROADBENT’S TIME Received Friday, 2 a.m. ALLAHABAD, Oct. 8. Miss Batten arrived a day ahead of Broadbent’s record. If she reaches Rangoon on schedule she will have two clear days to complete the remaining 2500 miles and gain the record. Miss Batten left for Akyab in Burma at 5.5 a.m.
