Lovers of Maori music and art are advised that a grand Maori concert is being held in the Opera House on Saturday for which tho seats may now be reserved at Collinson and Cunning kamo’s. The full party of 25 Maori artists all from Otaki represent tho beet Maori talent in New Zealand and is under the special and capable direction of D. Nicholls. The programme will consist of true traditional Maori choir singing, poi dances, solos, duets, trios, hakas and action songs. The leading solo singer is Miss Went) Tahiwi, well known to everybody from her radio broadcasts, and who is also in big demand for concert work all over New Zealand. The leading instrumental player is Dave Nicholls, who will, by special request, play ‘‘The Bosary.” Not for a long time has a Maori party of this calibre visited our town. From the interest that the news of their coining has caused, it can be expected that by Saturday tho booking will bo quite heavy and for this reason patrons are urged not to delay reserving their seats. This concert has been put on as a direct compliment to the Manawatu Hockey Association to help them in the present Queen Carnival. The Otaki Maoris take a great interest in the sport aud ior this reason they signilied their willingness to come to Palmerston North with their best party to help the Hockey Queen.
