No clue has been obtained as to the person who burglariously entered the Community Stores at Otaki. Besides forcing the door a window was broken, while an attempt was also made to gain entrance into Mr. Rule’s chemist shop, keep tho same time. Iu theso days of ingenious laboursaving devices one is continually being surprised by some new maifestation of man’s ingenuity. The latest is the invention of a New Zealander, which was demonstrated in Wellington. It was a mechanical weighing machine, which automatically weighed out into bags or cartons any desired quantity of tea, sugar, rice, or other grocery. It could perform this simple operation with mechanical exactitude at just ten times the rate it could bo done by manual endeavour. The machine was, of course, designed for factory use.
