Miss Joan Batten landed at the Iraq Petroleum Company’s pumping station midway between Damascus and Bagdad. Miss Batten arrived at Basra at 3.50 a.m. G.M.T. and left for Karachi at 4.45 a.m. Miss Batten’s achievement of a two days’ flight from London to Basra is highly praised, especially her splendid night flying across Iraq. She intends to fly non-stop from Karachi to Calcutta.
