At a recent meeting of Loyal Mangatainoka Lodge, M.UXO.O.F it was decided to hold a meeting of the Lodge at Ruawhata, in view of the fact that a number of residents of that settlement were members of the Order, ihis meeting eventuated on Monday night in the schoolroom, when there was an excellent attendance of members. Bro. I. Algie, N.G., presided. A candidate for membership was initiated into the Order and Lodge honours were accorded him. N.G. Bro. Algie extended a welcome to P.G. Bro. Butt, secretary of Loyal Whakatano Lodge, to whom Lodge honours were accorded. In responding, Bro. Butt gave an interesting account of the activities of lodges in the Bay of Plenty district. Accounts amounting to £2 17s on were passed for payment, this amount including the customary donation of U to Dr. Barnardo’s Homes. It was decided to procure health stamps to the value of £1 Is. Loyal Woodville Lodge wrote inviting members to attend a special meeting on Monday next in honour of one of its members who is celebrating his jubilee as a member of the Order. Loyal Woodville Lodge also wrote suggesting October 19 as the date for a visit to Pahiatua, and it was resolved that this be accepted. After the Lodge had been formally closed, members, their wives and friends participated in a progressive euchre tournament, practically every household in Ruawhata being represented. The prizes were annexed by Mrs Prydo and Miss Milne in the ladies’ section, whiie Bros. W. Fergus and W. Davenport wero the successful gentlemen. The ladies provided an abundant and appetising supper. N.G. Bro. Algie thanked the Ruawhata residents for their assistance, aud for their attendance.
