Tho funeral of the late Mrs. Emily Cowper Mules (wife of Dr. P. H. Mules, of Woodville) took place at the Woodville cemetery yesterday morning, when relatives and friends from all parts of the Island, together with representatives of the medical profession, attended to pay their last respects. A short service was held at Holy Trinity Church conducted by Rev. G. W. Davidson, who also officiated at the graveside, paying eloquent tributo to tho high attainments of the deceased lady wno had been such an indefatigable worker for her church. The length of the cortege and the wealth of floral tributes from sorrowing friends testified to tlio affectionate esteem in which the late Mrs. Mules was held by all who were privileged to know her. There were many handsome wreaths from the societies with which Mrs. Mules had been associated but most touching of all were tho simple bunches of flowers and floral devices which the children of the district had sent in memory of a beloved friend.
Tho pall-bearers were Dr. P. H. Mules, Dr. Alan Tennent (Wellington), Captain Wybrants Olphert (Lower Hutt), Dr. Charles Mules (Auckland), Mr. Jack Tennent (Wellington) and Mr. Hobart Tennent (Takapau).
