From Our Own Correspondent. Methodist Ladies.
There was a splendid attendance of ladies at the Methodist Parsonage for the snowball afternoon given by Mrs. Boston. A very pleasant time was enjoyed by all with competitions and items. Afternoon tea was served by tho hostess, after which a bring and buy stall was introduced, being well patronised. The proceeds were for tho circuit fund. Forresters’ Annual Dance. A most successful and greatly enjoyed function, the annual dance on Court Pohangina was held last Friday evening. Coloured streamers were the main decorations of the hall and under tho lighting scheme created a gay effect. \ isitors from the following lodges were present: Courts Loyal Feilding, Woodville, Pahiatua, Manawatu, Hinemoa and ilalcombe. A professional orchestra was in attendance and Bro. W. K. Smith was the M.C. The prize winners were: Monte Carlo, Miss Harrowfield and Mr. Parkes; lucky Gay Gordons, Mrs. Batten (Feilding) and Mr. M. Doreen. M. J. Spelman (Awahou) was the lucky cake winner. Supper was served by the lady members of the Court. Among those present were Misses M. Templeton, pink floral georgette; E. Foot, red floral ninon; E. Grarnmer, sunset frosted georgette; .T. Wilkin, pink cellophane crepe; K. Story, pink satin; M. Story, pink satin; M. Lacy, maize georgette; M. Herdman (Feilding); Mrs. I. Graham (Feilding); Misses 4V. Harris, blue lloral ninon; L. Tremewan, black velvet; O. Kosanowski (Palmerston North), midnight blue satin; M. Kosanowski, black satin; N. Kosanowski, black velvet; Mrs. W. Fowler (Feilding), black lace and georgette net, floral trimmings; Mrs. H. Batten (Feilidng), powder blue floral georgette; Miss Beayer (Feilding), blue floral georgette; Mrs. Rosaman (Feilding), black lace; Mrs. Hyndman, black georgette; Mrs. Mclsaac, floral sand crepe; Mrs. R. A. Jones, sea green crepe de chine; Misses M. Lk'isu v, pink floral georgette; M. Wilkin, lemon georgette; N. Mclsaac, floral marocain; E. Mclsaac, royal bluo sand crepe. Defence Rifle Club.
Owing to the wet afternoon last Saturday, there- was no shoot on tho local range. A practice shoot combined with a working bee will be held next Saturday to attend necessary details in preparation for the Greer Shield shoot on Labour Day. A good muster is required. Opening of Fishing Season. Many sportsmen were out on October 1 but there are no reports of catches of any size; in fact several reported not even a bite. Weather. Tho local weather conditions continue to vary considerably, with high winds, rain, warm days and then a sharp drop to wintry conditions.
