Plantation Destroyed
Nearly 100 acres of State forest plantation near Reporoa were destroyed by fire on Saturday, states a Rotorua correspondent. The outbreak caused anxiety, but gangs of men succeeded in suppressing it alter working strenuously for several hours. More than 100 men were engaged in dealing with the fire, which is believed to have been caused by the careless use of matches among the scrub on tho edge of the plantation. The trees destroyed ivere pinus radiata, which, fortunately, were not at an advanced stage of growth.
