Offences Against The Licensing Laws
THREE PERSONS FINED AT AUCKLAND Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Purchases of drink on threo occasions by police officers, followed by a seareo of the premises occupied by a Persian garden restaurant in the city, wore de scribed when tho proprietress and her husband and an employee appeared bo fore Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court. A total of eight charges of offences against tho licensing laws was heard.
The restaurant was described by Sub Inspector Scott, who prosecuted, as “a moral menace” through men t'hking young women to drink there. Defendants, for whom Mr. F. W. Schramm appeared, altered theii plea? from not guilty to guilty after hearing the police evidence. Mrs. Macgregor, the proprietress, was fined £lO and her husband £IOO and the employee, named Curry, £2.
