Flying-Officer D. Dustin, son of Mr and Mrs D. E. Dustin, formerly of Palmerston North and now of Wanganui, arrived at Wellington oil Monday. Mr Dustin, juur., who was accompanied by Mrs Dustin, has completed his service with the Royal Air Force aud iu Egypt, aud is taking up an appointment in New Zealand as a Cook Strait Airways pilot. Voung, of Palmerston North, has received from his London buyers, under date of August 27, tho cover of an air mail letter whico he forwarded to them at the beginning <n August, and which was aboard the Imperial Airways liner Scipio which hau a forced landing off the coast of Italy. The envelope was among the mails recovered, and is badly' stained, it shows obvious signs of having been immersed in water. <t> <£> All the pilots and co-pilots engaged on Union Airways’ inter-island express service are now resident in Palmerston North. Until recently six of these officers were stationed in this city and two iu Dunedin, but it has been found desirable for the purposes of organisation to establish the whole of the pilot staff at the northern terminus. Accordingly, Flight-Lieutenant A. G. Gerrand and Flying-Officer G. 11White have within the last few days taken up residence in Palmerston North.
