“ DON’T SHOOT ME!”
FILM STAR THREATENED.
A MATRIMONIAL DISAGREEMENT.
HOLLYWOOD, July 22
Hearing piteous cries of ‘‘Don’t shoot me I Don’t kill me,” police officers early, to-day burst into the' Beverly Hills home of Polly -Moran, and found the comedienne cowering before her husband, Martin Malone, aged 32, who brandished a revolver. The officers state that Malone' turned on them shouting, “Get out or I'll fill you with holes.” They Hung themselves on him, and Malone was arrested after a terrific struggle in which one of the officers was knocked down.
Miss Moran, say the police, was saved only by the fact that the cartridge jammed as Malone pressed the trigger. Through With Her Husband. The actress told the authorities that she' and her husband had been to a party. Malone was absent for a time, and when he returned she thought he had been drinking. During tlie drive home there was an argument, which ended in the' scene. “We’ve been married three years,” she added. “.Now I’m through with him.” Miss Moran, who appeared at the London' Palladium last year, became a great Him favourite through her roles in Marie Dressier pictures. Her newer films include “Hollywood Parly” and “Hawaiian Nights."
Poliy Moran was in New Zealand, a few months ago on her way to Australia to appear, in vaudeville. She is best remembered . l'or her amusing comedies in association with the late .Maria Jjaassinr.
