From Our Own Correspondent Fortunately for local farmers, tho snow which covered the countryside on Friday morning soon disappeared owing to the high wind that was blowing. Atost farmers seem to have lost a few lambs as a result of the severe weather. However, as on several farms ewes have given birth to triplets, perhaps the lambing percentages will not be greatly affected. Two sets of twin calves have been reported, one in Apiti and the other in Firi Phi, during the past fortnight. Personal, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Pratt, who aro at present in Australia, made a shorL stay In Australia before going to Melbourne, where' they are enjoying a holiday before Mr. Pratt commences buying fat lambs. In a letter Airs. Pratt mentioned that they had met four other New Zealander fat Jamb buyers who were also In Melbourne awaiting the commencement ol the fat lamb season. Miss Mari McKay accompanied her sister, Mrs. C. F, Viles, on a holiday visit to Wellington and Featherston. Afiss Audrey Kreger, of Kanghvahia, Is staying In Apiti with her sister, Airs. L. Martin. Home Mission. Tho annual report of the Apiti Home Mission Station (Presbyterian Church) recoids that tho average attendance at the quarterly communions was 51 and the roll stood at 7S. The. Sunday services had been well maintained, particularly the evening services at Apiti. There was an Increase in the number of children attendlg Sunday school chiefly at Apiti. A junior Bible class had been started at Klmbolton. Thanks are extended to the superintendents and teachers of the four Sunday schools. On the whole the finances of tho church are hi a healthy state During the past year considerable energy has been put forth throughout the whole district m tho raising of funds to carry on tho work of the Church, and in this, as always, the ladies have carrier the burden and sown the way. Mr. Stewart reports having officiated at 13 baptisms, 6 marriages and 5 funerals and made nearly 200. visits. Thanks to the organists for their valued and appreciated services, to the ladies who keep the churches clean and wholesome, and provide the flowers on Sundays, to Air. Pagan for his helpful services each month at JCiwitea and those gentlemen who assisted in supplying during Air. Stewart's holidays.
