Stay-in Strikes On Welsh Coalfield

Work is likely to bo paralysed throsghout the Welsh coalfield from September 7 involving 1110,000 miners, following the refusal of the proprietors of the Bedwas Colliery to permit a ballot to be held to determine whether the Bedwas workmen wish to join the South Wales Miners’ Federation. The Fernhill strikers broko the record for a stay-in strike and they have been underground for 8 days 21 hours. A doctor descended the pit to-day and ordered the removal of a man who is seriously ill. Strike Notices Withdrawn Received (Sunday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, Wept. G. The .South Wales Miners’ Executive has withdrawn the notices to strike. Mr Instone, chairman of the Bedwas Colliery Company, will meet the miners’ officials next week. Meanwhile there will be no victimisation.
