Of Local Interest
Mrs. E. Aston, of Pahiatua, has received the list of passes from the Sydney College of Shorthand and Bookkeeping, as follows:—Advanced shorthand: Ruth Bibby, 96; Miss J. Crawford, 91; Joau Bisset, 75. Intermediate shorthand: Miss J. Crawford, SS; Mavis Wright, 74. Elementary shorthand: Daphne Humphrey, 95 per cent.. Advanced bookkeeping: Joan Bissett, 88 per cent. Intermediate bookkeeping: Daphne Humphrey, 96. On Friday evening there was a good attendance at the Mangamutu euchre. The first prize (a 50ib bag of flour) was won by Mrs. McGregor, and the second prize (half-dozen wine glasses) by Mrs. Cheyne. Mr. E. Collins won the men’s first prize (31b tin of tea), and Mr. F. Sexton the men’s second (eight linen handkerchiefs). After supper tho usual dance was held to music supplied byMr. Peter Jackson. At the County Council meeting on Saturday the overseer informed the council that the big black draught horse, which had been the pride of the district, had had to be destroyed.
