Not Satisfied With Price of Cement

MINISTER’S REPLY TO FARMERS’ UNION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A statement that he is not entirely satisfied with the position in regard to the price of cement is made by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. D. G. Sullivan, in a communication received by the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. At the recent Dominion conference of the Union a remit was carried urging that steps bo taken to have the Co6t of cement to primary producers reduced.

To this remit Mr Sullivan has replied as follows:—"The Government had this matter before it. for some considerable time and as a result of investigation and negotiation with companies, a reduction in price has been arranged. I am not entirely satisfied with the position and for this reason I have arranged to have the whole question reviewed after the present scale of charges has been in operation for six months. This period will expire at the end of December, when further investigation will bo made. ’ ’
