Rongomai

From Our Own Correspondent

Ping pong was held as usual last week, those attending playing friendly matenes. On Friday last the hall committee held Its wind-up in the form of a euchre and dance and It proved a great success, both financially and socially. Euchre was indulged in until ten o’clock and the winners were Miss Ada Morrison and Mr. O. Cooper. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs. Osborne and Mr. Johansen. Extra prizes for the lucky table were won by Hazel Eagle and Mr. Oliver Evans. Mr. C. Schnell, prior to announcing the winners of the season’s aggregate, thanked those who had been such regular attendee and had so helped the committee to balance its budget. He hoped next year the functions would be enjoyed with equal onthusiasm. He then announced the aggregate winners as follows: Ladies, Mrs. L. Eagle 95 points, Mrs. Richardson 84 points; men, Mr. C. Evans 87 points, Mr. L. Eagle 65 points. When the tables were dismantled dancing was commenced and continued till a late hour, Miss V. Edge supplying the music. Mr. I. Pulton made a capable M.C. Miss C. Evans kindly supplied the extras. Some folk will regret these evenings are over, but the farmers find that increasing seasonal duties prevent them attending regularly. Mr. T. Lowes leaves for Nelson, this week for the college re-union. Much sympathy Is felt in the district at the passing of Mr. Bob Norlin who had lived with his twin brother at Pleckville for a great number of years. He will' be sadly missed.
