Primary School Representatives Meet

MANAWATU DEFEAT HOROWHENUA.

LEVIN, Aug. 15. Played on the Levin Domain this morning, a match between the Horowhenua and Manawatu Primary Schools Rugby representatives resulted in a. victory for the northern team by tho margin of 20 points to 13. Despite the very heavy nature of the ground, both teams gave a. particularly impressive exhibition. Both sets of backs handled a muddy ball in excellent style, whilst the forwards were very evenly matched. Manawatu, however, apparently had a better knowledge of the game, and ill-judged kicks by both the forwards and rearguard divsion of the Horowhenua team gave the visiting backs several opportunities to away in passing movements, tho ball on numerous occasions being kickstraight into their hands. Manawatu opened the scoring with a try, but Ilorowhenua equalised and then at one stage were leading 10—-3. Manawatu, however, then drew away and leading by four points .in tho closing stages, secured a last try on tho final whistle.

For the victorious team Mouldey served two tries, McCabe two and Astle and Harris one each, while Mouldey also converted ouo try. For Ilorowhonua Cook scored two tries, while Reihaua secured two conversions and kicked one penalty goal. Mr J. Smith controlled the game. The Horowhenua team to tra\ el to Martou next week to participate in tho Quadrangular Tournament with Rangitikei, Taranaki and Hutt Valley, will be as under: —Austin, Evans, Coley, Hakaraia (Foxton), Reiliana, Leen, Cook, Bryant (Manakau), Closey, Salmons, Wills (Levin), French, Pratt, Andrews (Shannon), Taylor, Roacn (Otaki), Liggins (Tokomaru), Caldwell (Paraparaumu), Winiata, Rolston, (Ohau).
