AFRAID OF “LEGION OF DECENCY”

Reports of a settlement out of Court to-nigiht promised to bring to an end one of tho most sensational trials involving prominent cinema stars, Mary Astor apparently proving victorious in her efforts to reverse a Court decision which gave the custody of her small daughter to her divorced husband, Dr. Franklyn Thorpe. It is now understood the mother and father will both have the youngster for varying periods.
The chief item in the testimony was Mary Astor’s private diary involving tho names of prominent playwrights, actors and men of affairs. The revelations were so intimate that the moving picture industry made strenuous efforts to obtain a settlement of tihe case, fearing the adverse reaction of “(he Legion of Decency.”
