KIMBOLTON Airs. Barnicoat presided over a fair attendance at the June meeting of the Kimbolton Women’s Institute, when ouo new member was welcomed. Airs. Stackhouse gave a demonstration on paper bead making, while Airs. Siiapleski demonstrated, the making of wool rugs. Both demonstrators were accorded a vote of thanks. The competition winners were: —Jar of jelly, Airs. Stackhouse 1, Airs. B.ornicoat k; knittcu cushion, Miss Schmidt 1, Miss Kitchie k; knitted article, Aliss Schmidt i, Airs, stacknousc k; collection of vegetables. Airs. Clapnam 1, Aims Kitchie k. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Aiesuumes Shapicski, Smith ana Schmiul. The ouiy competitions are for: Bowl of winter decorations, dinner wagon set, plain scones, and wheat uieui scenes.
HAMUa. Tho Juno meeting took the form oi. a social afternoon to farewell two pop tilur young members, Aiisses D. navies and E. Cavanagh, who are about to be married. Airs, Hobbs presided over a good attendance of members from K.ouiiu, AJangaiuaire, Tutaekura and llu kanui institutes, also some new members. The points prize competition, the must novel knitted lea cosy, was won by- Airs. Humphreys with Alesdamos Humphreys and Davies k. Two novel eoinputit.ons, the tirst, hitting three goil bails into a boot, was won oy Mrs. Louiter, of ALanganiaire W. 1., and the second, carrying two peanuts, one at a time, on a table knife, resulted iu a win lor ALrs. C. Aiaoey, of Tutaekara VV.I. Mrs. Brown of nukanui, gave a recitation and was heartily applauded. A musical parcel was won by Airs. Sadler, Hamua VV.I. A one-act sketch entitled “The Scoop,” was presented by misses E. Cavanagh and J. Ryan. The uexl item was a parcel post, tho parcel going to Airs. Hobos, who presented each guest of honour with a vase, saying how sorry the institute was to lose them and conveying congratulations from ail members. Each girl briefly returned thanks. A hearty vote ot thanks uas accorded the hostesses, Alesdames VV. J. Smith und Sadler and Miss F. Smith.
AWAHURI. The Awahuri VV.I. met on Wednesday with a good attendance of members. Thu president welcomed visitors and a new member and also an old niewbei who has been away on a trip to Honolulu. Airs. Lucas' little girl, who is new iu hospital, was wished a speedy recovery. Next meeting will 1 an open evening meeting. Ail members are asked lo bring their husbands or a friend along. A report was given by Airs. Bund of the group meeting which was formed at To Arakura. Airs. Rowlands gave a good report on tho Sarah Ann Rhodes Fellowship iu Home Science. Several members have decided to take up different lectures, the first to take place at 9 to 1k on June 30 at Mrs. Henderson’s nomc at Awahuri ana in the hall in the afternoon. A very interesting talk on travel was given by Mr. Collins and a very hearty vote of thauks was accorded him. Airs; and Miss Foster kindly judged the competitions, the results being as follow: Flowers, Mrs. Nutt 1, Airs. Port 2, Mrs. Nickolson 3; knitting, Mrs. Nickolson 1, Airs. Nutt 2, Airs. Fort 3; cooking, Mrs. Mair 1, Mrs. Christian 2, Mrs. I’, Campbell 3. A vote of thanks was accorded the hostesses.
