INDUSTRY TO BE ESTABLISHED. DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN BRITISH PLANES United Press Association—By Electric Teßgraph.—Copyright SYDNEY, June IS. The Minister for Defence, Hon. R. A. Parkhill, in a broadcast address on “Australia’s aerial defences,” said that at present it was difficult to obtain delivery of orders for aeroplanes placed in Great Britain. In a time of emergency the possibility of getting aircraft from Groat Britain would be almost negligible. It was tho Government’s aim, therefore, to establish an aircraft industry in Australia and action had been taken to achieve that result in the near future. £1,000,000 Syndicate Formed Received Thursday, 11 p.m. CANBERRA, Juue 18. At the invitation of tho Commonwealth Government a syndicate has been formed to float a company with a nominal capital of £1,000,000 for the manufacturing of aircraft and aero engines in Australia. Tho Prime Minister stated to-night that the syndicate includes the Broken Hill Proprietary Limited, Broken Hill Associated .Smelters, Limited, and General Motors. Holden's factory will be equipped with the most modern plant.
